A judge in the uk was sentenced today for having 74 pictures of child abuse downloaded onto his computer. He was sentenced to a 12 months community order how is that justice. At least 74 children were abused to satisfy his lust the judge sentencing him even had the nerve to say he had been of good character and had served the judicary well over the years even though it was proved his sentencing of other paedophiles was lacking in severity. Thats supposed to be good service!! makes you wonder what bad service is ??
Equality is still the same then some are more equal than others people are regularly put in prison for minor offence's and put in prison for the legal use of cannabis sacrament yet a paedophile judge is allowed to walk free, i will never again reckonise the right of any court to judge me again!! Our system is named right is it not The Criminal Justice System is excactly that CRIMINAL!!!
I know a lot of you would not agree with me but i honestly believe paedophiles should warrant a life sentence at least if not then execution!!

I agree with you brother.

I don't even want to think about what I would do if it happened to my kids.

FURY AS JUDGE WHO HOARDED CHILD PORN ESCAPES JAIL

Jul 14 2004

By Stephen Moyes, Gary Jones And Emma Britton

PERVERT judge David Selwood was accused last night of exploiting his knowledge of the law to cheat the jail justice he deserved.

Over six weeks the 70-year-old father of four downloaded 75 images of naked and semi-naked boys aged eight to 14, claiming he was driven by "curiosity".

But because the images did not portray explicit sexual activity he was yesterday allowed to walk free with just a one-year community rehabilitation order

Last night it emerged three cases where he sentenced sex offenders were referred back to the Appeal Court because it was feared he had been "unduly lenient".

Amid a chorus of outrage Bob McLachlan, a former Detective Chief Inspector who headed the Yard's paedophile unit, said: "He must have known exactly what he was doing.

"He was fully aware that downloading images of children not involved in sex was unlikely to end in a jail sentence.

"It's foolish to think he had an interest in this for only a few weeks. This sentence isn't a punishment or a deterrent. He should have been jailed for at least three years."

Selwood, of Winchester, Hants, admitted at London's Bow Street court last month 12 offences of making, and one of possessing, indecent images of children.

Although he was placed on the sex offenders' list for five years he was NOT ordered to attend a sex offenders' programme. Sentencing judge Timothy Workman said guidance could best be provided by a probation officer.

He added: "Until now, he has had an exemplary record and provided long and distinguished public service. He is entitled to credit for pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity."

Selwood - who has left his £110,000 a year post on the grounds of "ill health" - left court in a pin-striped suit with wife Barbara. He did not make any comment.

Later Sara Payne, whose eight-year-old daughter Sarah was kidnapped and murdered by a paedophile, said: "He should have gone to jail. I can't say I'm amazed at such a light sentence. He is a judge, after all. But I'm appalled."

Lyn Costello, of charity Mothers against Murder and Aggression, added: "We're disgusted at this lenient sentence. Selwood has been let off because of his position. People say downloading pictures is a minor offence. But children were abused to produce these pictures."

The NSPCC said: "Behind these indecent images are real children who have suffered immense trauma."

Selwood was arrested on April 21 after intelligence from the US about access to a child abuse website. He stepped down as a judge on June 2.

Referring to his hoard of porn the judge told investigators: "I can see objectively now how foolish this may appear. But there must be things going on in the subconscious mind which I need to look at."

Defending, Richard Hallam told the court: "He has asserted that he does not have any sexual interest in children. That is borne out by his family.

"He has lost his reputation and his career. He has lost in every possible way. It will reverberate probably for the rest of his life."

Of the three Selwood cases referred to the Appeal Court, one involved a man convicted of indecent assault who was put on probation. Judges jailed him for 21 months.

The second involved a pervert jailed for indecent assault and gross indecency. His sentence was increased from three and a half years to four and a half.

A third case, in which a youth convicted of raping a child was given a 12-month detention and training order, has yet to be heard. Earlier this year, Selwood cleared a world authority on child abuse, who admitted downloading child porn, of any illegal intent.

He called Professor Christopher Bagley, of Sutton, Surrey, "naive" for accessing indecent images without seeking legal advice.

In 1999, Royal Navy sailor Michael Heddon, 33, left Selwood's court without a custodial sentence after he admitted downloading obscene images of children.

Selwood was due to retire on June 27. Despite his conviction he retains the title of His Honour.

He will also receive an index-linked pension worth £33,000 a year and a lump sum of £74,250. The package is worth £500,000 over 10 years.

Selwood, a former Major General, held military posts in the legal services in Germany and Cyprus before being appointed director of Army legal services in 1990.

He was appointed a circuit judge in 1992 and made resident judge at Portsmouth crown court in 1996.

He and his wife live in a £500,000 semi-detached house. They have three sons, one daughter and six grandchildren.

Detective Superintendent Jon Hesketh, who led the investigation, said: "He disgraced the position of authority and his high standing in the community. No one is above the law, regardless of their position."

NINE people in the London area were arrested yesterday on suspicion of downloading and distributing child porn.

Not only does he escape jail he keeps his pension what in the name of Decency is going on!!!

Yes, but what about his' family, children and grandchildren and the effect a harsher although maybe 'just' sentence might have on all of them.

He should be locked up for life at least 74 children have been abused to satisfy his and other paedophiles lust. His faminly and children would better off at least they would have a life do you think for one moment that consideration for his family justifies him not being punished properly then best we open all the jails and prisons and let everyone out. Time to think about the victim for a change, he was a judge and as such should have been spotless. Apart from that his children and grandchildren need protection from him he is after all a convicted paedophile!!!!!

I never met an innocent man in prison and i met some real beauties one who was a really nice chap killed and fryed his employer in a chip fryer did he deserve to be there most definetely.

74 children suffered to supply those pictures is that not enough?

There is nothing mere about pictures of abused children.

In this case I have to say, I don't give a damn at all for the judge. I only feel sorry for the children. And if the judge has got young children around, be them his grandchildren, neighbours' family friends' kids... does that make you feel safe having the judge around them?

Well at least he took the time and was kind enough to kill him before he fried him. I can't say he would be the sort of chap I would care to share a jail cell with though.

Bloody good dart player though and in all honesty he was or seemed a really nice bloke he knew he did wrong and he excepted his punishment.
The only problem i ever had was the loss of remission for accidently belting a paedophile 1/2 a dozen times and it was worth every extra second. I only wish i could have done more before the officers pulled my foot out of his mouth.
