This means there is a supreme court precendent for religious use of otherwise illegal substances; this is basically an instance of the supreme court guaranteeing our right to use cannabis, DMT, or anything else in a spiritual manner.

By GINA HOLLAND, Associated Press Writer Tue Feb 21, 10:16 AM ET
WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Tuesday that a small congregation in New Mexico may use hallucinogenic tea as part of a four-hour ritual intended to connect with God.
Justices, in their first religious freedom decision under Chief Justice John Roberts, moved decisively to keep the government out of a church's religious practice. Federal drug agents should have been barred from confiscating the hoasca tea of the Brazil-based church, Roberts wrote in the decision.
The tea, which contains an illegal drug known as DMT, is considered sacred to members of O Centro Espirita Beneficiente Uniao do Vegetal, which has a blend of Christian beliefs and South American traditions. Members believe they can understand God only by drinking the tea, which is consumed twice a month at four-hour ceremonies.

Don't waste your time, you might knock of some of the glands with a rapid boil, but mostly you will just get the water soluable crap. THC is not water soluable.

Actually, there's an old recipe from India for a drink called Bhang that's made from cannabis leaves. While the oils are definately not water-soluble, they can be extracted crudely by boiling the leaves; the heat makes the oil malleable and the boiling action strips it from the leaves.

There are many, many recipes for preparing Bhang; it's generally spiced with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, then sweetened with a bit of sugar or honey. Some recipes call for adding milk or alcohol to it as well.

It's mainly a ceremonial drink, and it used to be insulting in India to not serve a glass of your finest Bhang to guests. It's also used as an offering to gods and is considered to enforce the spirit to help fight off illnesses.

Here's two bhang recipes...followed by a link for cannabis tea recipes:

#1
Ingredients
1/2 ounce cannabis
1 cup water
2 cups warm whole milk
1 pinch garam masala
1 tablespoon coconut milk
1 tablespoon chopped almonds
1/8 teaspoon powdered ginger
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon grenadine

Directions
Bring the water to a boil in teapot. Add the cannabis and brew for 7 to 10 minutes, then strain. Slowly grind the strained cannabis with 2 tablespoons of milk. Repeat this process several times. Strain the milk into a seperate bowl and set aside. Add a little more milk to the strained cannabis and grind it together with the almonds. Repeat this several times. Discard the cannabis and pour the milk, coconut milk, grenadine, and boiled water into one container. Add the ginger, sugar, and garam masala and stir.

Use an old teapot unless you want your house to smell like cannabis every time you want coffee. It will also smell a lot when you are brewing. This is a drink that the novice user should avoid, especially if you dislike the effects from eating cannabis.

Indian Bhang

2 cups water 1 ounce marijuana (fresh leaves and flowers of a female plant preferred)

4 cups warm milk

2 tablespoons blanched and chopped almonds

1/8 teaspoon garam masala [a mixture of cloves, cinnamon, and cardamon]

1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger

1/2 to 1 teaspoon rosewater

1 cup sugar

Bring the water to a rapid boil and pour into a clean teapot. Remove any seeds or twigs from the marijuana, add it to the teapot and cover. Let this brew for about 7 minutes. Now strain the water and marijuana through a piece of muslin cloth, collect the water and save. Take the leaves and flowers and squeeze between your hands to extract any liquid that remains. Add this to the water. Place the leaves and flowers in a mortar and add 2 teaspoons warm milk. Slowly but firmly grind the milk and leaves together. Gather up the marijuana and squeeze out as much milk as you can. Repeat this process until you have used about 1/2 cup of milk (about 4 to 5 times).

Collect all the milk that has been extracted and place in a bowl. By this time the marijuana will have turned into a pulpy mass. Add the chopped almonds and some more warm milk. Grind this in the mortar until a fine paste is formed. Squeeze this paste and collect the extract as before. Repeat a few more times until all that is left are some fibers and nut meal. Discard the residue. Combine all the liquids that have been collected, including the water the marijuana was brewed in. Add to this the garam masala, dried ginger and rosewater. Add the sugar and remaining milk. Chill, serve, and enjoy. It seems a bit labor intensive, but then it is meant as an offering to Shiva.
